Today we are going to show you the Thule Domestique fork-mounted bike carrier part number TH513. The Domestique is designed to mount not only on Thule square load bars but also round crossbars and most OEM style crossbars. Today we are going to be installing it on an OEM roof rack on a Volvo XC70. The Domestique uses a fork-mount for the front of the bike and includes a lockable stainless steel skewer. The installation is simple and requires no tools. We are going to take a quick look at how the rack is going to install once we get it on our vehicle. At the rear of the Domestique is a plate that slides into the track on the underside of the bike rack. You are going to need to orient this plate according to which side of the vehicle you are going to be placing the rack on. Since we are installing this rack on the driver side of our vehicle, we need to make sure that the portion of the plate that sticks out with the holes is on the opposite side. So this will actually be on the passenger side of the rack versus the driver side. The plate will sit on the top of the crossbar. You will use the other crossbar cap on the bottom and you will your three bolts in from above. 1:11

I bought the Thule 513 Domestique from a local sports shop because I want to make sure it fit and I can return it if I don't like the bike rack. I tried other bike rack but this is the ideal one and after 1 year, I am satisfied and will buy a second one via Amazon. Some very good points

- The front mount is secure and firm if you adjust the width perfectly for your fork. I have 2 bikes each time I mount different bike, I have to adjust the right screw so it grab well.
- I have driven on freeway over 65 mph with the bike and it is very stable and also winding road
- get the lock so you can secure the bike when you park at Public area

Complains
- I agree that you cannot lock the rack when there is no bike so I have to make sure to lock the grip and secure it but there is still away to remove it when there is no bike. I don't think anyone would steal it but you never know
- the rear mount rattle and it is annoying. Too much free play and maybe product design.
- Overall, I don't like the rear cap which is loose and also the plastic look cheap and not durable.

Since I park my car indoor 90% of the time, I don't have issue with rust but I don't think it is something I can use for more than 10 years but for now, I am happy with the products.
